Can a laptop charging port be fixed?
To fix a laptop charger port, you need to first identify the source of the problem. If the power jack is connected to the motherboard, you can easily remove and replace it. On the other hand, if the power jack goes soldered to the motherboard, you'll have to desolder it and replace it with a good one.
What if your laptop doesn't turn on?
Drain the computer of electricity
Disconnect the AC adapter and remove the battery (if possible). Hold down the power button for thirty seconds to drain any residual power from the laptop. Without replacing the battery, plug the AC adapter back into the laptop.
How much does it cost to repair laptop charging port?
edit: or is this something i'd be able to do at home for much cheaper? I don't know anything about fixing them at home, but a computer repair place around here charges about $50-$60 to fix a charging port. The power bricks aren't very expensive... usually around $15 unless you buy it from HP.
